The Organizing Authority is the Lake Pontchartrain Women’s Sailing Association. 

N O T I C E   O F   R A C E


  1. The LPWSA  Regatta to benefit 1st Ranger Battalion Sua Sponte Foundation will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
  2. For the purposes of the definition of rule, the GYA PHRF rules shall be rules.
  3. Certain rules may be changed and these changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.

ADVERTISING – Advertising shall be in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.


This regatta is a Clean Regatta.  As such, all competitors are encouraged to use non-single use water bottles and recycle all appropriate items.  Competitors are reminded of rule 55 which states that competitors “shall not intentionally put trash in the water.”


FEES – The entry fee for is $40.00 per boat.

 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS – The Sailing Instructions (SIs) will be available at registration.

SCORING – One race is scheduled. There shall be no discarded race. This changes rule A2.Boats GYA PHRF ratings will be “adjusted” by 3 seconds per mile for each Veteran onboard as crew.  Maximum adjustment will be 9 seconds per mile.  Adjusted ratings will be provided at the competitor briefing along with the course to be raced.

BENEFIT RATING – Participants shall be able to “boost” their PHRF by purchasing time in 3 second increments.  Participants shall also be able to “hit” any other boats rating as well. Purchasing time is not restricted to boat owners or sailors. Crew and spectators shall be encouraged to purchase time as well.  In addition, there will be a list of other cash rating adjustments prior to the regatta. 

MEDIA RIGHTS – By participating in this regatta, a competitor grants to the OA and its sponsors the right in perpetuity to make, use and show, from time to time at their discretion, any photographs, motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproductions of him or her during the period of the competition without compensation.


Prizes will be awarded to competitors placing first through third in PHRF Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker classes
